What we're looking for:

The Manager, Projects for National Accounts supports consistent project execution. This role oversees team performance and staffing alignment, helping ensure resources are matched to business priorities and customer expectations.

This role represents the department in leadership and customer meetings, reviews performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities, and addresses execution challenges in partnership with other leaders.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who provides direction for near- and mid-term priorities for the department, develops team members, and works closely with Sales and cross-functional partners to support reliable delivery.

What you will be doing as a key player on our dynamic team:

  • Oversee execution across multiple project teams and/or National Accounts, ensuring operational excellence, consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Align staffing and resources with business priorities, managing team capacity, workload distribution, and near- to mid- term resource planning to meet customer commitments.
  • Represent the function in leadership and customer discussions, communicating performance, priorities, and execution considerations in a clear and practical manner.
  • Review department performance metrics and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, working with leaders to address gaps with a solution first approach.
  • Support a consistent customer experience across the team and accounts by reinforcing standards, monitoring service delivery, and addressing execution issues as they arise.
  • Identify and address execution issues, taking corrective action and partnering with other leaders to reduce recurring risks and disruptions.
  • Provide leadership to Team Leads, Associate Managers, and project teams, offering direction, coaching, and performance oversight to support individual and team success.
  • Reinforce accountability across the department by setting clear expectations, monitoring results, and ensuring follow-through on commitments.
  • Establish near- and mid-term goals for the department, translating business goals into practical execution plans.
  • Partner with Sales, Program Managers, and cross-functional teams to align execution with customer strategies and evolving business needs.
  • Support operational improvement initiatives, contributing to process standardization, documentation, and changes that improve consistency and stability.
  • Model and reinforce organizational values, ensuring all departmental practices align with the company's mission, vision, and values.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in operations, project management, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams or multiple workgroups with accountability for performance, capacity, and results.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex, high-volume workflows across customers or teams.
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Sales, Program, Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in electrical distribution, large national accounts, construction management, facilities, or trade-based industries strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience operating in a professional office environment and using systems, reporting tools, and performance metrics to guide decisions. with at least 3 years in people management.
  • Proven track record of aligning staffing with business priorities, optimizing resource allocation, and managing capacity across teams.
  • Experience representing departments in leadership meetings, customer engagements, and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Technology, Data & Systems: Strong ability to use operational systems, dashboards, and performance data to monitor trends, assess risk, and guide team priorities.
  • Judgment & Accountability: Sound judgment and ownership of outcomes, with the ability to set expectations, monitor results, and ensure follow-through.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced education and relevant certifications (PMP, Lean Six Sigma) a plus.
  • Electrical trade, engineering, construction management, or large national account end-user experience is highly valued and may strengthen operational decision-making.
  • Significant experience leading teams in a professional office environment, including cross-functional collaboration and use of enterprise systems, required.
  • Strong technical and systems proficiency, with the ability to interpret operational data, forecasts, and performance metrics.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry office materials or presentation materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Extended periods of sitting for meetings and strategic planning; regular standing and walking for team interactions and site visits.
  • Reaching/Handling: Regular use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, writing, presenting, and operating technology.
  • Vision: Ability to review complex dashboards, performance reports, and operational data requiring close vision and focus adjustment.
  • Hearing/Speaking: Excellent communication skills required for leadership meetings, customer engagements, and team leadership across all formats.
  • Travel: Regular travel (up to 25-30%) to operational sites, customer locations, and company facilities required.
  • Environmental Conditions: Work performed in office environments, operational facilities, and occasionally customer sites or warehouse environments.
