Position DescriptionServes as Project Construction Field Superintendent to effectively coordinate construction activities. Maintains direct daily contact with contractor representatives, foreman, and hospital staff affected by construction. Essential Functions:
  • Assists Construction Manager in developing and implementing construction procedures, construction documents, standards, etc.
  • Collaborates to create job schedules and ensure ongoing compliance during construction phase of projects. Reviews manpower requirements and productivity relative to meeting current job progress schedules, follow-up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules. Produces daily logs of projects.
  • Assures compliance with hospital policies related to or impacted by construction activities.
  • Coordinates project work with hospital operations to effectively maintain job progress, negotiates the impact of construction, and promotes safety in occupied areas.
  • Performs jobsite inspections to assure code compliance and quality control using project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes. Creates lists to correct deficient work.
  • Researches and coordinates hospital MEP system outages and tie-ins. Assists with coordination of utility outages or shutdowns to ensure that there are no disruptions to critical care functions.
  • Manages and ensures successful sign off on City or State inspections for all phases of construction.
Skills/Experience Needed:Education Requirement:
  • Associate's Degree in related construction field, or equivalent work experience, required.
Skills:
  • Excellent customer services skills and client-relationship development skills.
  • Leadership skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction schedules.
  • Working knowledge of contract documents, drawings and specifications, change procedures, construction and engineering principles. Experience:
  • Eight years of building construction experience, or equivalent education, required.

  • OCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Cold Temperatures, Driving motor vehicles (work required) --additional testing may be required, Flexing/extending of neck, Hot Temperatures, Lifting/Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 41-60 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Sitting, Squat/kneel
  • FREQUENTLY: Climb stairs/ladder, Color vision, Computer skills, Electricity, Fume /Gases /Vapors, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Loud Noises, Machinery, Power Tools, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs, Repetitive hand/arm use, Standing, Working at Heights, Working Outdoors
  • CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Decision Making, Depth perception, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Lifting/Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Pushing/Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Seeing – Far/near, Walking
