Shepherd Excavating, a 52-year-old locally owned excavating, poured wall, and grading contractor in the Dublin/Plain City area, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator. This position is Monday through Friday in office, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some additional hours may be required to close the office one (1) night per week.

Responsibilities for the Estimator position:

• Gather details and compile data to prepare cost and labor estimates for single-family residential new builds and room additions. Estimates will be prepared for excavations, footers, poured walls, water lines, grading, and other work as needed.
• Take the dimensions off the plan and enter data into the computer system.
• Review drawings and specifications for potential errors.
• Ensure plans meet local ordinances and requirements.
• Assist with O.U.P.S. call-ins.
• Assist with obtaining permits.
• Close the office one (1) evening per week.
• Assist the field superintendent with site visits to ensure footers and walls are square and plumb.
• Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

• Associate degree in construction management or engineering or equivalent work experience in residential single-family foundation estimating.
• 2+ years of experience in a residential Estimator role preferred.
• Familiar with building practices and reading/analyzing blueprints.
• Very detail-oriented.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and complete on time.
• Experience with PlanSwift estimating software.
